August 1 🍁 Emancipation Day commemorates when the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833 became law across the British Empire. It is a day to educate, reflect, and engage in ongoing conversations about anti-Black racism and discrimination and how it still affects Black Canadians today.

August 7 🗽 Purple Heart Day is a time for Americans to honor the brave people who have been injured or have died as a sacrifice for their country. It is the oldest Military distinction and to this day is still awarded. This day is an unofficial observance day to remember their sacrifice and which is represented by a purple heart medallion.
August 9 International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is a day of recognition to promote Indigenous People's rights, culture, and land and is celebrated globally.
